Une histoire du Football féminin
A PERFORMED CONFERENCE BY HORTENSE BELHÔTE (2019)
In 1919 the first French women's football championship was organised, with a few dozen players. One hundred years later, in 2019, France hosted the Women's World Cup, broadcasted in front of millions of viewers around the world. A historic victory!
But the referee asks for a replay. Because in Football as in History, the result very often doesn't reflect the reality of the match. Victory must be qualified. Is sexism really behind us? The history of women's football is an opportunity to look back over the history of the 20th century through history of football, history of women, geopolitics and economy.
On top of that, there are also personal stories. Anecdotes and emotions are clues, keys to a poetic analysis of the problem. The conference plays with the pleasure of trapping the interstices of our own culture, from a deliberately feminist, queer and libertarian perspective.
